Powder Coating
In 1997, CR decided to bring all of our services under one roof with the intention of creating a “single source solution” for the benefit our current as well as future customers. The following is a basic breakdown of how our powder coating/paint line system works for you.

The Conveyor:
The 725 foot super clean inverted track conveyor is designed with the least number of curves and hills to minimize dirt and actual wear on the conveyor chain. The design allows the foreman total control of the system from start to finish. The foreman is able to view all aspects of the coating process from loading, washing and coating to baking, speed control, unloading, and packaging.

The Washer:
CR uses a new six-stage washer process plus halo rinse. Steps include an alkaline wash, rinse, iron phosphate, rinse, sealer rinse, and a tap water halo rinse. The only waste water is the overflow from the rinse tanks, so all other water is recycled through the water treatment tanks. CR has recently implemented a new green initiative which recaptures the heat from the cure oven and channels back to the washer process to reheat the water to its necessary 130 degrees.

Parts Dry-Off:
The parts dryer is a 16 foot long one pass, straight through tunnel. Exhaust gases from the burners are used by drawing them through a fan and directing them onto the parts as they enter the dry off section. The dryer can bring the temperature of the sheet metal parts to 150F to 200F, depending on the thickness of the metal, in just 2.5 minutes.

Powder Booths:
There are two 10’ x 14’ staggered booths. Each is its own room to keep the plant dust free. CR uses Nordson collectors that exhaust dust free air back inside the plant. The powder is applied to parts with Nordson electrostatic guns.

Cure Oven:
The cure oven is divided into two heating zones. Each zone can be controlled separately. This is appropriate when adjusting the heat range of texture finishes such as wrinkle paint. The oven is a 2 pass design having chain travel of 175 feet. The oven can service pieces up to 14’x5’x2’.

We are never shy about showing how our processes work and benefit our current customers. Our door is always open for a tour, so please contact us when the time is right for you.
